The modelling process for this landscape has been re-designed due to the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The ACL project team has been working in consultation with stakeholders of the TNS landscape in Cameroon and the Republic of Congo. On-line interviews are being conducted with local experts, complemented with a documentation-based process aimed at building an operational system dynamics model. The model shall allow the study of different policies with potential to attenuate undesired oscillations in ecosystem health and address key coexistence issues in this area.
The goal of the TNS system dynamics model is to interrogate the human-wildlife coexistence dynamics in a landscape in which dense forest is the predominant land cover, agriculture is scarce and the commercial forest exploitation activities drive the most important transformations. These include the attraction of migrants and fluctuations in human nutrition needs, which may impact on wildlife.
